The historic Toledo complex will write a new chapter in its history

Jeep is hugely popular all around the globe and is known for being one of the best off-roaders ever made. This year, the Toledo Assembly Complex, the home of Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee has seen exceptional sales boom which means the employees are doing their work brilliantly.

According to Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Group the upcoming redesigned Wrangler will be made by aluminium rather than traditionally used steel. Ever since this statement, the people of Toledo are afraid of losing their jobs. This new Jeep is due in 2018 and the Toledo Assembly has been producing Jeeps since 1940. If the plant closes it would be a real shame for this historic town.

Well that was the sad part, but there is always another side to the story. There will be history written as the workers on the assembly line will stop their work for few minutes as they will be writing history. Yes! The 500,000th Jeep built in one year, which has never happened before in the history of the plant.

In the US alone, the sales of Jeep are up by 44 percent through November, thus making Grand Cherokee the best seller, Wrangler the second best and Cherokee the third best selling Jeep. The most delightful part is that Marchionne, as a part of his goal of selling more than one million Jeeps this year, had challenged Jeep workers to exceed the mark of 500,000 units by the end of this year. The workers accepted the challenge with open heart and accomplished it in time.
