Second generation of Audi R8 V10 supercar has arrived with even better Audi engines

Second generation of Audi R8 has arrived with a refined range of engines.  Audi has confirmed that the new generation of R8 V10 will be offered with even better Audi engine, where flagship engine will be 5.2 litre V10. This V10 engine will crank out a power output of 601bhp. This power will be transferred to the wheels through newly developed Quattro system. With this configuration, R8 V10 will clock 0-62 in just 3.2 seconds and reach to a peak speed of 205mph.

Audi official said, “With the new R8, our engineers are bringing accumulated racing expertise from the race track to the road and no other Audi is closer to a race car.” Audi has also confirmed an all-electric drivetrain for the new R8 E-tron model. It will be a limited version, sold to very specific clientele. Audi’s previous inline 4.0 litre engine generates 532bhp asstandard but new V10 will give an extra 15bhp of power.

Cylinder on demand technology is an impressive option for fuel saving, where drivers will enjoy a 10% improvement in fuel consumption and reduction in CO2 emissions. The R8 V10 returns 23.9mpg and 275g/km of carbon emissions.

The R8 e-tron is also under development and newly born system will be offered in its first generation. It will offer an overall output of 456bhp and 679lb-ft of torque. This electrical powertrain will hit the 62 miles per hour mark in 3.9 seconds. Extra efficient battery cells, achieve more than double of the original range. It covers around 280 miles on a single charge.

From May 2015, order books will be open in UK and you will be able to order an R8 V10 from a starting price of around £119,500. However, more powerful V10 Plus will be available from £137,500. Deliveries are expected to start from the end quarter of 2015.
