Led by West and South Yorkshire Police, UK\u2019s northern consortium of 22 police forces ordered 680 Ford models to save \u00a35m.<\/p>\n<p>These models include 560 Transit Custom medium vans and 120 Kuga SUVs, all powered by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enginecompare.co.uk\/blog\/category\/engines\/\" target=\"_blank\">diesel engine<\/a><\/strong>. It is said that Ford\u2019s Special Vehicle Preparation (SVP) operation is going to convert half of these Transit Customs into cell vans capable of transporting two detainees and five police officers securely.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_vehicles_are_going_to_southern_consortium\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">What vehicles are going to southern consortium?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Ford order is made up of 110 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enginecompare.co.uk\/model?car=all-ford-transitconnect-engine&amp;model_id=31292\" target=\"_blank\">Ford Transit Connect<\/a><\/strong> light vans, 80 Kugas, 30 Ranger pickups and 200 Transit Customs.<\/p>\n<p>The southern consortium includes 28 police forces and six fire services. In this deal there are 2,000 new Vauxhall Astra cars to be supplied also.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Ford_has_to_say\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">What Ford has to say?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Terry Adams is Ford\u2019s direct sales manager and he said that \u201cFord has a long history of working with emergency services spanning 50 years, the stylish and capable Ford Kuga has established itself as their rural beat car of choice with all-important all-wheel drive necessary for winter conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kugas are already operating on fleets of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=11&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;sqi=2&amp;ved=0ahUKEwivlvnMq7jKAhXHtRoKHVkUDRYQFghMMAo&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FBritish_Transport_Police&amp;usg=AFQjCNGxAboXF030GKSUz2xDGI11NTN1bg&amp;bvm=bv.112064104,d.bGQ\" target=\"_blank\">British Transport Police<\/a><\/strong>, Dyfed Powys and South Wales. Whereas the Ford Transit Custom is already used in every police region in the country.
